Electronics Sourcing North America caught up with the EDAC Group of Companies’ new president, Mark Burr-Lonnon, for insight into the company’s plans.
New challenges abound in the electronics industry and after 41 years working with and for global volume/web distributors, semiconductor/IPE manufacturers and electronics manufacturing service providers, Mark Burr-Lonnon has taken the reins as president of the EDAC Group of companies.
Mark said: “My role is to take a 60-year-old connector business to new heights while building a strong global footprint. The EDAC Group is the best kept secret in connectors. Becoming president allows me to work with CEO Adrian Robinson, a stalwart of the connector business. I have the support of an industry veteran while growing the EDAC, Norcomp, MH Connectors and Northern Technologies brands on a global basis.”
Regarding interconnect technologies, the organization is a leader in D-sub connectors (signal and combo), back shells, waterproof products, card edge, rack and panel, plus an extensive range of modular jacks, headers, USB and HDMI connectors.
Mark continued: “Beyond expanding our existing product lines, being a midsized player we wish to forge a niche for ourselves in the custom connector world for midsized to large companies who need special solutions that just cannot be serviced by a standard offering. These customers are often ignored by some larger competitors seeking higher volume business on custom parts. I also expect more acquisitions to strengthen our portfolio after the 2024 acquisition of Northern Technologies.
“We will strengthen our global and local distribution networks to help our OEM customers, while providing their local and global EMS partners with the support of a strong mid-tier customer-focused connector partner. Our offering will include our full range on key industry web sites with local inventory to support direct or distribution sales. NPI will meet growing market needs.”
Mark concluded: “EDAC Group of companies offers great products, global positioning, marketing presence, inventory, engineering/design support, great distributors and great people. Trust Mr EDAC to offer buyers another alternative in the world of connectors.”
