A new family of non-isolated high efficiency DC/DC converters has been developed by YDS (Distributor: MSC) for applications as voltage converters and low-dissipation replacement of power-hungry linear voltage regulators. With dimensions of just 11.8 x 8.5 x 17.5 mm³ the new 01D-2A series delivers an output current up to 2 A with natural convection cooling at ambient temperatures up to +65 °C.
The 01D-2A Series accepts input voltages up to 36 VDC. Users have the choice between many factory-preset popular output voltages from 1.8 V to 15 V with a tolerance of ±2%. Additional specifications include a line regulation of ±0.5%, a load regulation of ±0.5% (from 0.2 A to 2 A), output ripple and noise of 100 mVss maximum and a switching frequency of 500 kHz. Indefinite short circuit protection with automatic recovery and a MTBF rating of 1.63×106 hours (using MIL-HDBK217F) make the 01D 2A series DC/DC converters the perfect solution for applications in commercial systems and entertainment electronics. The 01D-2A series models are pin-compatible with the popular 78XX linear regulators. Using the 01D-1A series instead of the linear regulators results in a remarkable reduction of power dissipation. The 01D-1A series does not need heat sinks as required for linear regulators. The high efficiency of the devices avoids excessive heat generation.
