Yamaichi Electronics has introduced two new High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connector variants. Version D is a Micro-HDMI connector and version E is specific to the automotive industry. Yamaichi also offers connectors for variants A, B and C.
The Micro-HDMI in Version D, titled PKS019-40xx-0, has compact dimensions of 5.80 by 7.65 by 3.20mm. It also features contacts with a special insertion moulding that prevents them from bending when the other connector is plugged into them. Lateral guides support the insertion of the cable side and protect the contacts from lateral stress for optimum contact reliability in operation.
Version E for automotive applications, the PKS019-5000-0(VE), features a special housing to protect the actual HDMI connector. This allows the interface itself to be a little recessed and it is easy to build into the chassis. This 19-pin version meets specification 1.4b and has been developed and tested specifically for the automotive industry. Its temperature range is -40 to 85°C and its design supports functionality even at higher exposure to shock and vibration.
