Vishay Intertechnology Releases New Wet Tantalum High-Energy Capacitor for Military and Aerospace Applications

9308648985_1b707ed378_nVishay Intertechnology, Inc. today introduced a new wet tantalum high-energy capacitor with low maximum ESR down to 0.025 ? at +25 °C and 1 kHz, and the highest capacitance of any similar device on the market. Manufactured to withstand high stress and hazardous environments, the HE4 features a unique case design for improved reliability and performance in military and aerospace applications.

The HE4 utilizes Vishay’s proven Super Tan hybrid cathode technology in combination with industry-leading anode designs to achieve its low ESR. Optimized for energy-storage and pulse-power applications, the device is housed in an all-tantalum, hermetically sealed case featuring a double seal for increased reliability.

The capacitor released today combines its robust design with an ultra-high capacitance range from 1100 µF to 7200 µF, the highest capacitance per unit volume of any we tantalum capacitor. Offered in the A, B and C case codes, the HE4 operates over a temperature range of -55°C to +85 °C (to +125 °C with voltage derating) and features a ± 20 % standard capacitance tolerance at 120 Hz and +25 °C, with tolerances of ± 10 % also available.

Samples and production quantities of the new HE4 wet tantalum high-energy capacitor are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for larger orders.
