Wind River, a world leader in embedded and mobile software, has entered into a distribution agreement with Avnet Embedded, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc.. Under the terms of the agreement, Avnet Embedded will market, distribute, and provide sales and product support for the full Wind River portfolio of software, related hardware, and other products to customers throughout the Americas.
Avnet Embedded focuses on providing a full suite of embedded solutions – from storage, computing, software and networking products, to disk drives, flat panels and embedded boards from industry leading suppliers. It markets, distributes and delivers support for original equipment manufacturer (OEM), embedded and commercial customers. Avnet Embedded’s Rorke Global Solutions™ team can offer all of Wind River’s products to deliver comprehensive solutions that integrate hardware, software and services. OEM customers may also purchase Wind River products through Avnet’s components divisions, Avnet Electronics Marketing and Avnet Memec, in the Americas region.
“With their broad customer base of OEMs and independent software vendors, Avnet has the extensive expertise and relationships to successfully sell and support Wind River’s diverse product portfolio and extend our reach throughout the Americas,” said Stephen Mitchener, vice president of worldwide channel sales at Wind River. “We are very pleased to expand our distribution strategy by teaming with world-class distributor Avnet, and we look forward to working with them to drive new opportunities and bring the many benefits of Wind River’s offering to the marketplace.”
“The operating system is typically one of the first and most critical steps in our customers’ design phase. Through our collaboration with Wind River, Avnet can now provide our customers with services and support around VxWorks, the industry’s most trusted real-time operating system (RTOS), for applications that require a predictable, deterministic, RTOS for their ‘chip-down’ designs. Moreover, the company’s embedded Linux and Android technologies round out the operating system offering and will help us uniquely address the deeply embedded market,” said Jeff Ittel, senior vice president of embedded marketing, Avnet Embedded. “Additionally, our collaboration with Wind River, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation, reflects Avnet’s commitment to a strong, continued relationship with Intel.”
