Tiny relay joins distribution linecard

With Hongfa’s HFD5, Rutronik claims to be adding the market’s smallest signal relay to its portfolio, measuring 9.0 by 4.8 by 4.9mm. It is the first 5th generation technology, suiting medical, test, measurement and inspection applications. The relay is available as a DIP or SMT variant, with single-sided stable or latching version.

With 50mW coil power and 10mA max coil operating current (5V), the relays combine a compact design with efficiency. They can be direct microprocessor controlled.

The company states the relays have bifurcated contacts, ensuring reliable switching, even of weak currents, over the entire electrical service life. Certifications includes IEC 60079, IEC 60335-1 and RoHS.
