Hirose has expanded its low-profile DF51K wire-to-board connector series to include a surface mount technology version. Compatible with automated assembly processes, including pick-and-place machines, the series simplifies the assembly process, saving time and cost.
The connector features a centre lock design for high-density PCB mounting. The lock design also prevents damage during cable assembly, while ensuring secure mating. The positive lock provides a tactile click and secures a reliable connection. It lets users recognise reverse mating and prevents mechanical interference.
Supporting up to 3A, the 2.0mm pitch DF51K series is designed for products including industrial machinery, medical equipment, office equipment, robotics and smart meters. Part of the SignalBee connector family, options include straight/right-angle, SMT/THT, single/double row and gold/tin plating. Rated voltage is 650V AC/DC, while operating temperature is -55 to 105°C.
Hirose Electric Americas’ assistant vice president of product management, Pete Lais, said: “SMT connectors offer many advantages compared to THT versions, such as size and weight savings, higher mounting density, automated assembly compatibility and more.”
