Rutronik is expanding its SMD capacitor product portfolio with Kemet’s new ‘across the line’ SMP255 capacitor series in safety class X2 and optimised ‘line to ground’ SMP253E series of RFI suppression capacitors (safety class Y2).
The capacitors impress with vibration resistance in accordance with IEC 60068 2-6/2-27, long service life, safe failure mode and power stability. The parts achieve the safety standard by using epoxy-impregnated paper as a dielectric. In addition, self-healing properties minimize the risk of short circuits, while advanced materials ensure maximum tightness and stability against ionization, corona effect and partial discharge.
Surface mount technology enables reduced assembly time, saves PCB space and reduces parasitic effects typical of through-hole technology. The capacitors are lead-free, RoHS-compliant, THB-tested and AEC-Q200 certified. This suits them to applications in the automotive sector, such as infotainment, comfort equipment or safety systems, plus the medical and industrial sectors.
