Affordable SODIMM module features NPU, GPU, HD video and USB 3.0.
Direct Insight, the UK-based technical systems integrator and reseller of system-on-module (SoM) and other embedded systems, has launched a new TRITON-TX family SoM, the TRITON-TXMP2 based on STM32MP255, STMicro’s powerful new ARMv8 dual-core processor.
Commented David Pashley, CEO of Direct Insight: “The TRITON-TXMP2 offers exceptional graphics, video and NPU performance in a full -40 to +85degC temperature-range SoM, at a reasonable price, and is aimed at a broad range of industrial HMI solutions plus streaming video capture and display devices.”
Manufactured by Direct Insight’s long-standing partner, Ka-Ro Electronics, TRITON-TXMP2 features a powerful dual-core ARM Cortex-A35 processor running at up to 1500MHz. The tiny 68mm x 26mm SODIMM SoM has 1GB LPDDR4, 4GB eMMC Flash, and a 24-bit RGB display output powered by a 3D GPU. Video support is a particular strength of this processor with 1080P60 video decode and encode and dual MIPI-DSI camera inputs. Comprehensive connectivity is rounded off with dual Ethernet, 3x FlexCAN, SD/eMMC, dual USB 2.0, PCIe and USB 3.0, as well as up to 9x UARTs, 8x I2C ports and 8x SPI. A Vivante NPU offers 1.3TOPS of ML/AI power, and a third MCU processor core is based on an ARM Cortex-M33.
TRITON-TXMP2 comes with a Yocto-packaged Linux BSP with full sources and installable VM for development. In common with the rest of the pin-compatible TRITON-TX family, it only requires a single 3.3 to 5.5V supply and provides a 300mA 3.3V power output for use on the baseboard.
Guaranteed lifetime is a key reason to TRITON products. Some parts have already been shipping for over 15 years, and each member of the TRITON-TX module family is guaranteed to be available, in small or large quantities, for a minimum of 10 years after launch. Direct Insight brought the first system-on-module to market in 1999, and has a unique track-record in maintaining partnership with our customers for the long-term, supporting you throughout the product life-cycle.
