Advanced Rework Technology alerts readers to revisions of IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies and its companion document IPC J-STD-001.
2024 was a busy year for Advanced Rework Technology and IPC combined. In March 2024 IPC released two new revisions of popular Standards.
The first is one of the oldest Standards—first released in 1983—now updated to revision J. IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies is the most widely used assembly acceptance Standard in the electronics industry. Participants from 31 countries provided input and expertise to bring this document to the electronics industry. IPC-A-610 is a must-have Standard for inspectors, operators and others with an interest in the acceptance criteria for electronic assemblies.
The second is the IPC-A-610 companion document, with both released together to revision J. IPC J-STD-001 is recognised globally for its criteria on soldering processes and materials. The update includes input and expertise from participants from 27 countries. IPC J-STD-001 is a must-have for those in the electronics industry with an interest in the process and acceptance criteria for electrical and electronic assemblies.
Commonly referred to as synergy documents, they are designed to be used in conjunction with each other. J-STD-001 for process and IPC-a-610 for final acceptance.
ART is focused on helping the electronics industry with the deficit in skilled staff and is working with schools, colleges, universities and training providers with STEM and focused training to help the new generation transition into electronics.
ART has partnered with The PCB Design School in Colchester, Essex to help individuals, companies and students get a much higher understanding of PCB design requirements.
