FlexLink, a Coesia company and leading provider of material handling solutions, enhances its Genius line with two new laser marking systems, the 1-LV-S and 1-LV-R, at IPC Apex Expo 2025, March 18-20 in Anaheim, California. Visitors can explore the new systems at booth 1049.
The 1-LV-S and the 1-LV-R are designed to enhance PCB production efficiency by offering precise, high-speed, and contact-free laser marking. The two models are suitable for different production requirements, with 1-LV-S for single side boardmarking and 1-LV-R featuring inverter capabilities for dual-sided marking applications.
Key features and differentiation
Both CE-compliant laser marking systems apply permanent, high-contrast markings on PCB surfaces, including all typical content types such as text, logos, barcodes, serial numbers, and 2D codes, to support traceability and identification requirements. The FOV area measures up to 120 x 120 mm or 4.72 x 4.72 inch. Both models include antistatic edge belts, programmable motorized width adjustment, and a dual-camera vision system for fiducial recognition and code verification. The marking position is adjustable using live view, and a programmable board stop system ensures precise alignment, even when the PCB has cutouts at the leading edge. Additionally, the system can position the board precisely in the center of the inverter, enabling faster realignment after rotation.
The 1-LV-S and 1-LV-R laser markers also feature an entirely new software platform, enabling significantly faster programming and introducing advanced functionalities such as Random Check, which accelerates code verification and reduces cycle times. Both modules are equipped with a larger 24″ touchscreen, providing operators with an enhanced interface for more efficient production workflows.
1-LV-S: Single-sided laser marking for high-throughput environments
The GENIUS 1-LV-S is designed for single-sided marking and is ideal for traceability and recognition applications. Optimized for marking on one side only, it features a compact, fixed laser setup that streamlines the marking process, making it a suitable choice for high-throughput environments requiring efficient and reliable identification.
1-LV-R: Double-sided laser marking for tracking or recognition on both sides
The GENIUS 1-LV-R adds an integrated PCB inverter, allowing for double-sided marking. This added functionality provides enhanced flexibility for marking both top and bottom layers, making it particularly suited for high-mix, high volume production where dual-sided identification is required.
Industry demand and market impact
The increasing complexity of PCB manufacturing and stricter traceability requirements have accelerated the need for versatile and efficient laser marking solutions. The 1-LV series provides manufacturers with greater flexibility, reduced material waste, and improved marking accuracy, ensuring compliance with global standards.
“With the introduction of the 1-LV-S and 1-LV-R, FlexLink strengthens its position in PCB handling and marking solutions,” says Patrick Ortiz, Sales Manager PCB US. “These systems meet the growing demand for precision and traceability in electronics manufacturing, while offering seamless integration into automated production lines.”
“The 1-LV-R, with its advanced double sided marking capability, is particularly suited for high-mix, high-volume production applications where flexibility is critical”, says Christian Werner, Sales Manager PCB Europe. “It ensures that manufacturers can meet stringent marking requirements without compromising on speed or accuracy. The 1-LV series is now available for customers in North America, Asia, and Europe.”
