AI driving demand for aluminum enclosures

OKW Enclosures’ president, Sean Bailey, expects the rapid growth of AI to further drive demand for its Metcase 19 in rack cases and desktop enclosures in 2026.

LLMs’ centralized training clusters and high-throughput inference services thrive within the established 19 in rack ecosystem. AI adoption rapidly consumes rack space and boosts demand for rackmount chassis and accessories.

At the network edge, many computer-vision, robotics and operational-technology applications require compact aluminum enclosures or short-depth, half-rack and wall-mount housings because equipment must be installed near sensors and actuators despite space constraints.

Sean said: “AI is also likely to accelerate the development of advanced medical electronics, laboratory and test/measurement instrumentation. These devices will need premium enclosures that showcase the quality of this technology.”

Metcase forecasts increased demand for its best-selling Combimet 19 in rack cases, its premium Technomet instrument enclosures (including the new TX tower) and its Technomet 19 in (84HP) tabletop mini-racks and 10.5 in (42HP) desktop enclosures.

The company has invested in a new energy-efficient paint line, roof improvements (to let in more natural light) and new LED lighting. These energy-saving improvements will help Metcase to keep prices competitive as the manufacturing sector battles rising raw materials costs, higher energy prices, increased labor expenses from a tight market and escalating logistics costs.
