Now available at Embedded Solutions is a range of high-performance embedded ‘Computer on Module’ (CoM) boards based on advanced Freescale and TI multimedia processors. The plug-in TQM (ARM) and TQMP (QorIQ) boards, manufactured by TQ Group, are suitable for a wide range of industrial embedded applications.
The Freescale i.MX multimedia-processor based TQM boards utilise high-performance and energy-efficient ARM processor cores, including the ARM9 in the i.MX28 (450MHz), i.MX35 (532MHz), and the leading-edge ARM Cortex-A8 in two high-end platforms, the i.MX537 (800MHz and 1.2Ghz) and TI AM335 Sitara. To complete the range is the newCortex-A9 i.MX6solution available in single, dual and quad core variants.
Targeting industrial applications with operation over the –40°C to 85°C temperature range, further features of the TQM and TQMP families include 128MB or 512MB DDR2/DDR3; 256MB to 2GB eMMC Flash; true-colour LCD controller; 4/5-wire touchscreen interface; single power supply supporting 3.1V to 5.5V; peripheral interfaces such as UART, SD-CARD, SPI, PWM, I2C and CAN; and connectivity including 10/100-Mbit/s Ethernet, with support for IEEE1588, and USB 2.0 OTG and Host options.
The QorIQ™ P1 platform series, which includes the P1021 (dual-core) and P1012 (single-core) communications processors, offers the value of extensive integration and extreme power for a wide variety of applications. Based on 45 nm technology for low-power implementation, the TQ modules with P1012 and P1021 processors provide single- and dual-core solutions for the 533 MHz to 800 MHz performance range, along with advanced security and a rich set of interfaces. All QorIQ™ are pin-compatible, meaning modules with varying performances can be used for the same base board.
Software options include operating system support for Linux 2.6 and 3.2, Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, Windows Embedded Compact 7 and Android.
