Parker Hannifin’s Chomerics Division has introduced two new versions of its Soft-Shield 4850 multi-planar electrically conductive foam EMI shielding gasket. The more cost-effective 4840 suits volume grounding applications, while 4860 is a halogen-free EMI shielding gasket for high-temperature systems.
Soft-Shield 4840 comprises conductive silver- plated nylon fibres embedded in a low-density urethane foam matrix meaning the material is electrically stable over many closure cycles, experiencing a low compression set (<15 per cent). High volume applications include consumer devices and industrial electronics.
Soft-Shield 4860 is based on electrically conductive silver-plated nylon fibres dispersed in low density silicon foam, offering an operating temperature up to 125°C.
Both versions are available with/without conductive pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) in bulk rolls, cut sheets or custom die-cut shapes.
